In “Cinnamon Girl,” Lana Del Rey expresses conflicted feelings about an intense and possibly unhealthy relationship, while begging her love interest to nurture her instead of hurting her. In this song, Lana alludes to her history with men, while juxtaposing themes such as love and sweetness with darker things such as drugs and pain. Musically, the backing track is as addictive as the pills Lana references in the verses. The steady chorus beat that mimics the waves of an ocean lapping on a beach works up to a euphoric post-chorus which allows Del Rey to demonstrate her vocal range control. In her 2012 track “Radio” also known as “Cinnamon”, Del Rey refers to her life as “sweet like cinnamon,” which in itself is sweet and spicy. Cinnamon is the perfect spice to showcase Lana’s transition from darker days in Ultraviolence to her newfound optimism, as seen in Lust For Life and now, Norman Fucking Rockwell!. The song borrows its title from a Neil Young classic. While the aging rocker may seem an unlikely influence for Lana, she also referenced him on 2017’s “Get Free.” Lana initially teased two song snippets in separate Instagram posts. The first was posted on October 12th which was later deleted, and a follow up was posted on October 15th.

Lana Del Rey announced her sixth studio album during an interview with Annie Mac after the premiere of “Mariners Apartment Complex,” the lead single for her upcoming project, on September 12th, 2018. She later confirmed the title of the record in a conversation with Zane Lowe after the premiere of her second single “Venice Bitch,” on September 18th. Lana has allegedly been working on the album since December 2017, with new collaborator and producer Jack Antonoff. She said that the album might be released in the first quarter of 2019, after publishing a little poetry book she’s been working on titled Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass. Del Rey mentioned that the new album experiments with surf elements, electric guitars and Laurel Canyon sounds, adding that she was inspired by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Lana spoke about the story/inspiration behind the album and its title track during her interview with Beats Radio 1’s Zane Lowe It’s called Norman Fucking Rockwell!, it was the album title since March. I mean, working with Jack I was in a little bit of a lighter mood cause he’s so funny, so the title track and it are kind of about this guy who like, he is such a genius artist but he thinks he’s the shit and he knows it, and like he won’t shut talking about it. The narrative goes on and on. It’s so awesome I ended up with, you know, like, being creative on a pipe story or whatever. I just like the title track so much, that I was like, 'Okay, definitely want the record to be called that.’ In an interview with Vanity Fair, Lana talked about the concept of the album saying It was weird how that actual title came to me. I was riffing over a couple of chords that Jack was playing for the title track, which ended up being called “Norman Fucking Rockwell.” It was kind of an exclamation mark so this is the American dream, right now. This is where we’re at—Norman fucking Rockwell. We’re going to go to Mars, and Trump is president, all right. Me and Jack, we just joke around constantly about all the random headlines we might see that week, so it’s a slight cultural reference. But it’s not a cynical thing, really. To me, it’s hopeful, to see everything as a little bit funnier. The chaos of the culture is interesting, and I’m hopeful that there’s room for there to be some movement and excitement within it. On July 31st, she officially announced that Norman Fucking Rockwell! would be released on August 30th, 2019, in multiple posts on her social media platforms. She also released the tracklist along with the album cover.

About“The Man” was confirmed as an official Lover track in Taylor’s Vogue interview from August 8, 2019. In the song, Taylor “plays with the idea of perception.” According to Vogue, "she has often wondered how she would be written and spoken about if she were a man.” Taylor explains It’s a thought experiment of sorts If I had made all the same choices, all the same mistakes, all the same accomplishments, how would it read?’ On January 27, 2020, the song was confirmed by Billboard’s Senior Director of Charts, Gary Trust, as the fourth official single off of Lover after it was sent to both pop and adult pop us a question about this songAsk a question *What did Taylor say to Billboard about the song?Taylor spoke to Billboard Magazine about “The Man” during her interview for Woman of the Decade It was a song that I wrote from my personal experience, but also from a general experience that I’ve heard from women in all parts of our industry. And I think that, the more we can talk about it in a song like that, the better off we’ll be in a place to call it out when it’s happening. So many of these things are ingrained in even women, these perceptions, and it’s really about re-training your own brain to be less critical of women when we are not criticizing men for the same things. So many things that men do, you know, can be phoned-in that cannot be phoned-in for us. We have to really — God, we have to curate and cater everything, but we have to make it look like an accident. Because if we make a mistake, that’s our fault, but if we strategize so that we won’t make a mistake, we’re calculating. There is a bit of a damned-if-we-do, damned-if-we-don’t thing happening in music, and that’s why when I can, like, sit and talk and be like Yeah, this sucks for me too,’ that feels good. When I go online and hear the stories of my fans talking about their experience in the working world, or even at school — the more we talk about it, the better off we’ll be. And I wanted to make it catchy for a reason — so that it would get stuck in people’s heads, so they would end up with a song about gender inequality stuck in their heads. And for me, that’s a good day. What have the artists said about the song? This is a song that I have wanted to write for a very long time, but never knew exactly how to. I often think about what my career would have been like, and what my headlines about my career would have been like if I had been a man instead of a woman. Not what would I do differently or anything, but if I had had the same accomplishments, the same mistakes, the same dating history, the same statements — what would have been different? This is a song called The Man,’ and it’s just about how the world would be if I had been a dude in my approximations of it. — Via the iHeartRadio Lover Album Release Party and Secret SessionWhat have the artists said about the song?Has she performed the song live? What did Taylor say about the song in her Lover Enchanced Spotify campaign? Was “The Man” released as a single off of Lover?Has Taylor said anything about her experience as the music video's director? Is there an official lyric video ?How did this song perform on the Billboard charts?Does this track have any RIAA certifications?Who produced “The Man” by Taylor Swift? When did Taylor Swift release “The Man”?Who wrote “The Man” by Taylor Swift?CreditsVideo Production DesignerVideo Photography DirectionAssistant Recording EngineerRelease DateAugust 23, 2019Songs That Interpolate The ManThe Man CoversThe Man by Anya Marina & The Man by Song Suffragettes Ft. Tooka while, was in denial when I first heard. That you moved on quicker than I could've ever, you know that hurt. Swear for a while I would stare at my phone just to see your name. But now that it's there, I don't really know what to say. ไภโนว ยู ยภไล้ค์ ดิส.
Dikala hati resah Seribu ragu datang memaksaku Rindu semakin menyerang Kalaulah ku dapat membaca pikiranmu Dengan sayap pengharapanku ingin terbang jauh Biar awanpun gelisah Daun daun jatuh berguguran Namun cintamu kasih terbit laksana bintang Yang bersinar cerah menerangi jiwaku Andaikan ku dapat mengungkapkan perasaanku Hingga membuat kau percaya Akan ku berikan seutuhnya rasa cintaku Selamanya selamanya... Biar awanpun gelisah Daun daun jatuh berguguran Namun cintamu kasih terbit laksana bintang Yang bersinar cerah menerangi jiwaku Andaikan ku dapat mengungkapkan perasaanku Hingga membuat kau percaya Akan ku berikan seutuhnya rasa cintaku Rasa cinta yang tulus dari dasar lubuk hatiku Oh... Tuhan jalinkanlah cinta Bersama selamanya... Andaikan ku dapat mengungkapkan perasaanku Hingga membuat kau percaya Akan ku berikan seutuhnya rasa cintaku Selamanya selamanya...
